Pakistan and India will lock horns in the highly-anticipated clash of the Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday, September 2, in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Pakistan began their Asia Cup 2023 campaign on a high with a massive 238-run win over Nepal on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, India will kick start their tournament with the match against their traditional rivals Pakistan.

Ahead of the crucial clash, here are three players who are nearing personal milestones.

Rohit Sharma

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is closing in on the 10,000-run mark in ODI cricket. He is 163 runs away from the landmark ahead of the Pakistan clash.

Currently, he has 9,837 runs in 244 matches at an average of 48.69, which includes 30 centuries and 48 fifties and a highest individual score of 264. He will become the sixth Indian to reach the milestone.

Babar Azam

Pakistan captain Babar Azam is just six runs away from breaking Virat Kohli's record of the fastest captain to 2,000 ODI runs.

Kohli scored 2,000 ODI runs as a skipper in 36 innings and Azam, after his 151 against Nepal in the opening match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Wednesday, has 1994 runs in just 30 innings.

Azam could also become fastest to 20 ODI centuries during the match against India.

Former South Africa batter Hashim Amla currently holds the record after achieving the feat in 108 innings. Azam has scored 19 hundreds in 102 innings.

The Pakistan skipper needs to score one hundred in his next five innings to break Amla’s record.

Virat Kohli

India’s star batter Virat Kohli is also on the verge of achieving another milestone. The right-hander is just 102 runs away from scoring 13,000 runs in ODIs, becoming only the second Indian to achieve the landmark.

Kohli has currently scored 12,898 runs in 275 matches at an average of 57.32, with 46 centuries and 65 fifties, with the highest score of 183.

The Asia Cup 2023 will be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka between August 30 and September 17.

Four matches will be played in Pakistan, while nine, including the final, will be played in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan are in Group A alongside Nepal and India. Meanwhile, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are in Group B.

Top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2023.
